Shows to Watch: If You Get Stuck Indoors This Summer

Even though it’s beach season, there will still be days this summer that will be ruined by bad weather and fitful storms. What do you do then? Your options become TV, homework, reading, playing with the kids, or a nap. Since most online learners are so dedicated to their studies I wanted to share a few new and returning shows on primetime that will be a great excuse to take a quick break from the computer.

Check out these great series for thought-provoking drama, laughs, or just to unwind:

  • Whale Wars – See it on Animal Planet on Friday nights at 9pm EST. It’s a great show about several people trying to stop whale poaching, and their stressful run-ins with the poachers themselves.
  • Cake Boss – Tune into TLC at 9pm EST on Thursdays if you want a quick glimpse of what it takes to run a gourmet cake shop. Make sure you have snacks, the visual delights on the screen will have you drooling.
  • Rubicon – For an exciting drama from AMC that focuses on a “government intelligence agent who begins to uncover a sinister conspiracy after a shocking tragedy”. Show time is 9pm EST
  •  Mad Men – Emmy-award winning drama following the lives of people in an ad agency, and also delving into their personal lives and scandals. AMC on Sundays at 10pm EST.
  • Hawthorne – Those looking for a fix in the absence of Grey’s Anatomy should check out this great new show that follows Nursing Officer Christina Hawthorne. Hawthorne is a single mother trying to hold the hospital together amidst doctors and administrators who are losing sight of a hospital’s true purpose. Show time is 9pm EST Tuesdays on TNT.
