A Case of Civic Duty During the Boston Marathon

Interview with Bernard Madore
Student, American Military University

In light of the tragic bombing that recently took place on April 15 in Boston there has been a cry for more community involvement and support. The outpouring support for the victims of the tragedy has been heard not just from around the U.S., but around the globe. This event showed a fast acting medical community, a well trained police force, and many welcoming hearts and hands in a time of need. One such example of community assistance and civic duty was from that of AMU Student, and First Sergeant, Bernard (Bernie) Madore. At the time of the bombing Bernie, an active duty soldier with the Massachusetts National Guard, was participating in the marathon along with fellow soldiers to honor fallen comrades. Here he shares his unique story about what he saw at the event, and how he and so many others assisted those in need that day.
